A bit of a newer folk artist, this is Sharon Van Etten's first album. She's a little different than usual female singer-songwriters. Don't let the album title or stereotypical love lyrics throw you off too much, she's one of the female folk artists that I actually like, and she seems really influenced by Vashti Bunyan, almost like a female Elliott Smith . She was at Pitchfork Music Festival but I missed seeing her because she played early on the first day. I bet she was good though. Sharon Van Etten's new album Epic is out right now and you should check it out if you like this first album. Personally, I don't like the new album as much. I would write more but its 2 a.m and I'm really tired.
