Mos Def - The Ecstatic (2009)

Mos Def's latest album. Most people think rappers that became actors are deadbeats (Ice Cube), but Mos Def has been steadily releasing quality hip hop/rap albums (and he's a pretty good actor too, if you've seen Be Kind Rewind and various TV shows).

His music is a mix of hip hop and rap, as some of the tracks sound like pure hip hop and others sound like steady rap rhymes, and eventually the two mix. His music is influenced by bands like Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, The Roots, etc. The first few tracks start off slow but the later tracks get alot better.
